Located approximately 30 miles south-west of central London, Guildford is the county town of Surrey and is surrounded by the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty.

The River Wey, flows through the town centre and its crossing points have made the town a focal point for commerce for over a thousand years.

The University of Surrey, located adjacent to Guildford Cathedral, to the north-west of the town centre, is known for its research and development and is a key centre for satellite and mobile communications research.

The presence of a world leading research university within the town, has attracted a number of technology businesses and since the 1990s, Guildford has been recognised as a centre of video game production, and is home to Electronic Arts as well as other similar companies.

Guildford is also home to several major businesses and these include Allianz, Sanofi, Colgate-Palmolive, Ericsson and Philips Electronics.

Key commercial areas in Guildford

In addition to a thriving office market in central Guildford, the town also offers commercial occupiers accommodation on a number of business parks and out-of-town locations, close to the town, including the Guildford Business Park and the Surrey Research Park, which is home to numerous spin-off businesses from the University of Surrey, including satellite manufacturer, Surrey Satellite technology.

There are also several modern business properties in the rural areas around Guildford, including Henley business Park, a few miles to the west of the town, and to the south, Dunn’s fault Park offers a number of industrial and distribution properties.

The town’s main industrial focus is the Slyfield Industrial Estate to the north of Guildford town centre.

Guildford transport links.

The A3 trunk road, which runs between London and Portsmouth, passes close to central Guildford and provides rapid access to the M25 but also the towns of the Blackwater Valley via the A31 Hogs Back, which runs between Guildford and Farnham.

This town is also served by mainline railway services between London Waterloo and Portsmouth via Clapham Junction. The town’s second station, London Road, also provides a link with Waterloo via Epsom.

Both Heathrow and Gatwick International airports are both within 30 miles of the town.
