Sale of the former doctors’ surgery in Farnham

A private client of Curchod & Co has sold 4 Downing Street in Farnham, Surrey, a three-storey Grade II* listed building that dates back to the 18th Century, for £1.655 million to a private investor.

The Georgian building, totalling approximately 5,755 sq ft, was previously used as a doctor’s surgery, with some sources suggesting the property was used as a surgery for over two hundred years.

The medical practice previously relocated to larger premises at Wey Court East, a building owned by Waverley Borough Council, where Curchod & Co acted on the letting.

The purchaser is expected to explore converting the building into residential accommodation, subject to securing the necessary planning consent.

Nick Reeve of Curchod & Co. commented: “Buildings such as 4 Downing Street rarely come to the market in central Farnham. The property offers considerable character and, with the surgery having relocated to modern premises, it presents an excellent opportunity for a sensitive conversion. Demand for well-located town centre buildings in Farnham remains strong, particularly where there is potential to create high living or commercial environments.”

Situated close to Farnham’s town centre amenities, the property benefits from convenient access to shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as Farnham railway station, which provides direct services to London Waterloo.
