- Curchod & Co’s Cricket XI closed the scorebook on its 2026 season with a friendly against Hurst Warne recently, played away at Liphook and Ripsley CC.
The fixture rounded off a summer of matches against other local businesses, part of a series of games built around networking rather than pure competition. Curchod & Co took on Oktra, Moore Barlow, Bourne Hub and Penningtons Manches Cooper over the course of the season, alongside the closing match with Hurst Warne.
With the exception of the final game, fixtures were played at the picturesque Farnham Cricket Club, and the matches there give players and guests from each business a chance to talk shop over a drink and a fish & chip supper.
“It’s been a hot summer and what better way to build relationships away from the formality of meetings than in the sunshine with the crack of leather on willow?” said Nick Reeve of Curchod & Co in Farnham.
“We’ve had some close finishes this year; a couple of games have gone right down to the last over, but nobody’s kept score too closely. The real result is the contacts made and the deals talked through at the boundary rope,” he added.
With the 2026 season now finished, planning is already underway for 2027. As well as the regular fixtures, Curchod & Co is looking to add a few new opponents to the calendar and give some other local businesses a sporting chance.
Anyone from a local business interested in arranging a friendly for next season is welcome to get in touch with Nick Reeve directly.
